THE LAST THING YOU FORGET was a space made for community. The show was built on the idea that art is meant to be a gift. Art is meant to be accessible for everyone, it's meant to be shared. Art is meant to be used as a tool for keeping communities together. For connection. Art is meant to bring people together.
This show could not have been possible without all of the help and support we got from our community and from our faculty that trusted us to do this.
I want to extend a special thank you to S. Dominique and R. Oswald for all of the help and patience you two gave us throughout the process of trying to make this show happen and for making sure we had everything we needed. You two are the realest to ever do it!
I want to thank G. Sosa, B. Barillo, and E. Deluca, for bringing their classes into our space for two very special nights of conversation and art-making, connecting me with the newer class of Art Education students, and for being wonderful teachers who guided me with patience and unwavering support during my time in undergrad.
I want to say thank you to T. Burns. Our curator, our friend, our magic-maker. This show would have never gotten off the ground without your help.
I want to thank N. Bourget, our resident serigrapher and founder of MassArt Garment Printing Club, for teaching a very exciting workshop and returning to party and screenprint with us during our open studio!
I want to thank our friends in IDLE VISION [gods favorite band] for coming to play a killer set in our gallery, totally rocking everyones socks off, and for sticking around after your set. Stream NO MORE DEAD DOGS on spotify!
And to A. Martinez and AF, i love you both more than words.
Lastly I want to thank every single person who passed through the gallery, spent time in our space, came to a workshop, made art at our tables, and sat on our couch. All of this would not have been possible without all of my new friends I met throughout the week.
A lot of the work I put on the wall was about things that I have lost, but the show as a whole has been about what I have gained. Art has given me a voice. It has led me to people I love more than anything in the world. It has brought me places I never knew I could go.
